AN exquisite finish from Aaron Harper-Penman in the sixth minute of stoppage-time secured three points for Barnstaple Town in the Toolstation Western League First Division.
Town took the lead early on through Ryan Turner as they dominated the first period against a Chippenham side that set out to defend and frustrate the league leaders.
In the second period their tactics began to pay off as Barnstaple’s usual flow was thrown of course and they failed to provide an attacking threat.
Chippenham equalised on the counter to make it 1-1 and pushed the home side on to the back foot.
Barnstaple couldn’t break down their opposition and the game seemed destined to fizzle out as a draw until Billy Tucker stood over a free-kick. The winger whipped the ball into the box and Harper-Penman threw himself on to it with a special overhead kick to claim the three points.
