BARNSTAPLE Town extended their unbeaten run in the Toolstation Western League to 26 games with a 3-0 win over Corsham Town but the fixture was overshadowed by a serious injury.
After 15 minutes, Corsham right-winger Charlie Madison fell awkwardly on his leg and there was a 55-minute delay while an ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital.
Following the restart, Dave Pearse immediately made it 1-0 as he shaped for a cross to Ryan Turner before looping the ball into the far corner, leaving the keeper planted.
At the opposite end, Ryan Draper was called into action with a superb one-on-one save to preserve Barnstaple’s lead at the break.
In the second period Barnstaple began to ran riot and forced the visiting keeper into several splendid saves before Jed Harper-Penman killed the game off with a penalty awarded for handball.
Substitute Will Nicholls was able to add extra gloss to the result as he made it 3-0 after 75 minutes with a close-range finish.
Corsham took to Twitter to thank Barnstaple for their assistance with the injured Madison.
