BARNSTAPLE Town recorded a ninth consecutive clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Devizes Town in the Toolstation Western League First Division.
Will Nicholls’s second-half strike separated the sides after Devizes played more than half the game with 10 men.
Barnstaple looked comfortable in the opening 20 minutes and almost scored through Dave Pearse and Nicholls.
It was a foul on Pearse that led to the first-half red card, with the striker racing through before being chopped down in a clear goalscoring position.
Barnstaple were frustrated in the second half. They were without injured top scorer Ryan Turner but Nicholls stepped up to the plate and fired home a brilliant half-volley from the edge of the box with 25 minutes to play.
Barnstaple then saw out the game to remain two points clear at the top of the league.
