Barum quickly returned to winning ways in their final away game of the season with a comfortable 1-0 win away at Almondsbury UWE on Tuesday night.
This win brought up Barum’s 1,000th win in 67 seasons of playing in the Western League. The very first win came way back on Saturday 11th September 1948, a 9-0 home victory against the National Smelting Company which was also Barum’s first ever home game in the League. To this day, that 9 goal winning margin has been equalled but never bettered.
The win ended an almost perfect away season for Barum, with only the previous Saturday’s loss at Oldland Abbotonians preventing them from being unbeaten on the road. Finishing with an away record of W14 D6 L1 F48 A7, something most other teams would be more than pleased to achieve at home, this title-winning side set club records for most wins, fewest defeats and conceding the fewest goals along the way.
