BARNSTAPLE Town could gain promotion to the Toolstation Western League Premier Division on Saturday after a 4-0 victory over Hengrove Athletic in the First Division.
The result leaves Town five points clear at the top of the table and another win at the weekend will guarantee a top two spot with promotion.
Barnstaple manager Barry Yeo can’t wait for the tie against Warminster Town at Mill Road, where spectators can pay what they like to attend the game.
“We can’t wait for the game and I wish it was tomorrow,” said Yeo.
“Hopefully plenty of fans will come down because of the pay what you like initiative and the players want to make It a perfect day.”
Town came straight out of the traps as Ryan Turner nodded home the first from Jed Harper-Penman’s cross.
Jed’s brother, Aaron, fired home the second as he crept into the box at the back post following good work from Lee Francis.
It was the first time Town had scored more than one goal in five league games and another soon followed before the end of the half.
Dave Pearse was brought down in the box and Jed Harper-Penman converted from the spot to make it 3-0.
In the second half Will Nicholls sprung from the bench and supplied his trademark finish for the fourth, while Jack Jenkins put the term box-to-box midfielder to the test with an energetic performance.
