BARNSTAPLE Town eased through to the FA Vase first round with a 4-1 win at Ivybridge Town.
Ryan Turner scored a hat-trick and strike partner Dave Pearse got the other to knock out the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League side.
After a less-than convincing performance in last week’s Toolstation Western League win over Sherborne Town, Barnstaple manager Barry Yeo was pleased with today’s display.
“We were very good for the first 45 minutes and were 2-0 up at half-time,” he said. “It could have been 5-0. We played some great football.
“We had a bad 10 minutes in the second half and they scored but they had a man sent off and we saw the game out.”
Turner’s treble took him to double figures for the season with 11 goals in all competitions.
