BARNSTAPLE Town’s chairman has moved to clarify the details of their ground-grading inspection.
An inspector attended Mill Road this month and indicated he would put in a report not passing the ground. However, the assessment went to a grading panel who had the final word.
Jasmine Chesters said she wanted to set the record straight.
“We never failed the criteria to pass the grading standard,” she said. “We have not had to appeal any decision because we didn’t need to.
“(With regards to the earlier announcement) we felt as so many of our supporters knew we were being inspected that it should be announced to let them know what had happened.
“This announcement came out unfortunately before the grading panel had met.”
Barnstaple are just three points behind Toolstation Western League Premier Division leaders Odd Down after making it 14 games unbeaten with Saturday’s 2-1 win against Gillingham Town.
Barum travel to Odd Down tonight in a potential title-deciding clash.
