Barnstaple Town 2 – 3 Weymouth : Pre-season friendly

Barnstaple Town were given a major test on Friday night as they went down 3-2 to Evo-Stik League Southern Premier side Weymouth at Mill Road.

All five goals came in the second period, and it was Barum who looked like they would be victorious after Dave Pearse and Scott Sharp had them 2-0 up.

Pearse raced on to a short header back and lobbed the keeper from close range after 51 minutes and just seven minutes later Sharp also profited from a poor backpass, taking it round the keeper and finishing well.

But Weymouth didn’t finish two spots off a play-off position for no reason, and showed their class as three goals in the last 16 minutes – including the last kick of the game – turned the game on its head.
