John Clarke wishes it to be known that, after 45 years’ service to the Club, he stood down as a Director as of 30th July 2016.
As a young lad he was part of the crowd that stood on the terraces for Barnstaple Town’s first ever game against Trowbridge Town Res in the Western League on 28th August 1948, and was still there when Town played their last Western League home game against Welton Rovers on 23rd March 2016 – 68 years of support! John joined the club in the 69-70 season, with only a 2 year break in the mid 90s through family illness, before finally bringing down the curtain last Saturday.
John has been a fantastic ambassador for BTFC – he has been the main man behind the clubs sponsorship opportunities and launched the 100+ Club in 2015 which brings in much needed revenue.
Everyone at the Club wishes John all the very best in his retirement and hopes that he will remain a regular at Mill Road.
Thank you John.
