BARNSTAPLE Town picked up a much-needed three points in Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West today.
After three straight league defeats – and four in all competitions – Barum were looking to pick up their first points since a 1-0 win against Paulton Rovers on August 16.
And although a trip to Larkhall Athletic today looked a tough proposition, they did just that as a solitary effort from Ryan Turner gave them a 1-0 victory.
Larkhall were 10th going into the game and coming in on the back of impressive results against Paulton Rovers (won 3-2) and Swindon Supermarine (drew 0-0) they would have been hoping to break down a Barnstaple side without captain Aaron Harper-Penman and Craig Allan.
But Town coped well without two of their three main defenders to take the points.
You had to go back to April 2013 for the last time Barnstaple had lost five games in a row, and they were goalless at the break today.
But Turner struck his third of the season 20 minutes from time to lift Barnstaple to 14th and just one point behind today’s opponents.
They will be hoping to carry that momentum forward when they take on Willand Rovers in the Devon St Luke’s Cup on Tuesday night.
