BARNSTAPLE Town midfielder Shaun Copp is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Manager Barry Yeo said Copp was believed to have suffered a collapsed lung while training with the club on Saturday.
The injury will come as a big disappointment to both Yeo and Copp, who had been a standout performer in recent weeks.
“He has been playing extremely well so this is massively frustrating,” said Yeo. “We wish him well and hopefully he gets fit and comes back just as strong as he was.”
While that news is a blow, Yeo confirmed top scorer Ryan Turner is “firing and ready to go”.
Turner has been in and out of the side with injury this season, but still tops the Barnstaple scoring chart with seven goals.
With Town’s games against Swindon Supermarine and Paulton Rovers both postponed, Yeo said the “break will have done him well”.
“With nothing on Saturday and Tuesday he’s had another week of non-contact which will hopefully do him the world of good,” said Yeo.
“He will be fighting fit, firing and ready to go – it is just about getting minutes on the pitch now.”
