Record Breaking 2014/15

Barnstaple Town FC 2014-15 Season

“The Record Breakers”

Below is a list of records that have been set this year with a note of the previous record and when it was set, all are Barum’s records in the Western League since 1948-49 (excluding Cup games):

(Previous record)

128   Most goals scored in a season – 107 in 93/94

101   Biggest goal difference – 68 in 93/94

97   Most points won – 89 in 93/94

80   Most goals scored at home – 63 in 48/49, 49/50 and 51/52

37   Longest unbeaten run – 33 in 93/94

29   Most wins – 27 in 93/94

27   Fewest goals conceded – 31 in 93/94

23   Most clean sheets – 19 in 79/80 and 81/82

18   Most games scoring 4 or more goals – 12 in 49/50 and 93/94

14   Most away wins – 13 in 80/81, 81/82 and 93/94

10   Consecutive clean sheets – 5 in 81/82, 83/84 and 03/04

7   Fewest away goals conceded – 9 in 81/82

2   Fewest defeats – 3 in 93/94

1   Fewest away defeats – 2 in 81/82 and 93/94

The records narrowly missed:

If Barum could have scored against Devizes Town that would have equalled the number of games scored in a season, which stands at 36 set in 93/94.

If Barum could have beaten Devizes Town they would have equalled the most home wins in a season, which stands at 16 set in 51/52.

One more away goal scored would have equalled the record of 49, which was set in 63/64.

Had Barum avoided defeat at Oldland Abbotonians, they would have been the first Barum side to go all season unbeaten away from home.

All this in a season which saw Barum reach 2,500 games in the Western League on Tue 14th April away at Hengrove Athletic, and achieve their 1,000th win on Tue 28th April away at Almondsbury UWE in what proved to be the last game of the season.
