Transfer window: Where do Barnstaple Town need to strengthen?

WITH the transfer window officially open all eyes will be on Manchester United as they look to dip into a £750 million sponsorship deal with Adidas.

Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani are some of the big names flying around the rumour mill, but what about at Mill Road itself and the Sports Ground.

Which areas would you like to see your team strengthen before the start of the new season?

The question for manager Barry Yeo will be how can you improve on last years success?

Town achieved promotion to the Toolstation Western League Premier Division in emphatic style while blitzing several club records along the way. But they may need reinforcing on a small squad if they want to continue their charge up the divisions.

Keeping hold of strikers Ryan Turner, Will Nicholls and Dave Pearse will be Yeo’s main priority as they scored 75 between them and look capable of causing even more damage next season. However, with Billy Tucker leaving to Bideford last season and having never been replaced, perhaps Yeo may still look to add a little more flair to his attack.

In midfield Barnstaple are undeniably strong with Jack Jenkins and Lee Francis enjoying a blossoming partnership in the middle and the likes of Jed Harper-Penman and Ross Jones all capable of fulfilling their roles.

Once again keeping hold of players opposed to adding will be Town’s aim at the back as they boasted the best defence in the league. But goalkeeper Ryan Draper is weighing up his retirement options and Town could need another goalkeeper to do battle with Jimmy Thorne for the no1 spot.
