BARNSTAPLE Town’s unbeaten run in the Toolstation Western League reached 12 games with a 2-1 win at Cribbs this afternoon.
Second-half goals from Lee Francis and Scott Sharp earned Barnstaple the points in Bristol, where the home side did not score until the fifth minute of stoppage-time.
It was a fourth straight away win for Barum, which keeps them in second place in the Premier Division – three points behind Odd Down, who lost 2-1 at Willand Rovers, having played one game more.
Barnstaple made two changes to the team who drew 2-2 at home against Shepton Mallet on Tuesday night. Niall Heeney came in for the unwell Shaun Copp and Will Nicholls started up front in place of Dave Pearse, who dropped to the bench.
Barnstaple improved after a goalless first half and Francis headed in a cross from Liam Gregory to give them the lead.
Francis and Nicholls both went close to doubling the advantage before substitute Sharp found the net on 85 minutes. Cribbs got their consolation goal moments before the final whistle.
The top two are both in away action against mid-table opposition on Tuesday evening. Odd Down visit Brislington and Barnstaple go to Bitton.
