BARNSTAPLE Town manager Barry Yeo said his side played some of their best football as they beat Slimbridge.
Barum secured a much-needed Southern League victory at Slimbridge on Saturday, thanks to a Ryan Turner goal after 31 minutes.
With six straight Division One South and West defeats, Barnstaple finally ended that run with a deserved 1-0 victory.
“Apart from five minutes at the start we played some of the best stuff we have played all season,” said Yeo.
“We popped it round really nicely and I was really pleased.
“They didn’t really have a chance and we were having chance after chance.
“The second half was a bit scrappy but the last 20 minutes we had five or six great chances to kill it off.”
After slipping to fourth from bottom, Saturday’s win means Barnstaple are now eight points above the relegation zone.
The result could have been more comfortable with Turner, James Blake and Lee Francis all coming close.
“We turned our performance into a result,” said Yeo.
“It would have been nice to make it a bit more comfortable than it was, though.
“The boys were buoyed by it, it is about being confident and we are playing some good stuff.
“We were delighted to get the three points.”
