On Monday, during our community day game against Street, Barnstaple Town Football Club were delighted to receive a very kind donation of a Defibrillator.

Rob Greenfield presents the device to club chairman Bob Chamberlain

The equipment was donated to us by Rob Greenfield of
Assured Safety & Risk Management Ltd in Barnstaple.

Defibrillation is a treatment for life-threatening cardiac dysrhythmias, specifically ventricular fibrillation and non-perfusing ventricular tachycardia. A defibrillator delivers a dose of electric current (often called a countershock) to the heart. Although not fully understood, this would depolarize a large amount of the heart muscle, ending the dysrhythmia. Subsequently, the body’s natural pacemaker in the sinoatrial node of the heart is able to re-establish normal sinus rhythm.

Rob is the Managing Director of Assured Safety & Risk Management Ltd and Chairman of the Health & Safety Specialist Interest Group at the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM).

Assured Safety & Risk Management are a Health & Safety Consultancy offering clear, no-nonsense advice and training to help you facilitate organisational change, empower individuals and attain an organisational goal of zero accidents.
